Course meeting times

The one day course will normally start at 9.00 or10.00 am and finish at 4.30pm but times can alter according to circumstances. But you will be given notification of times well in advance of course.

Most courses where you are staying over night you will be asked to provide a tent to sleep in; this will be your own personal space and somewhere to keep your personal equipment etc. You are advised that this should be a one or two man tent, not a large family tent unless prior permission is given (family camps only); it will be your responsibility to maintain and keep it in accordance with camp rules. Also as an alternative and depending on the Course you are attending, you may want to bring a basher and/or hammock and sleep in this, the choice is yours. Depending on the course you are attending you may construct an improvised or natural shelter. You then have the option to sleep in, or under this shelter, and use the tent/basher in an emergency.

Self Catering 

Everyone attending courses will be given relevant information and advance

If you are attending a self catering weekend you are advised to bring a small camp cooker adequate for your needs, again you may not need to use it depending on the course you are attending, but it is good practise to have something in case of emergency. On all courses there will be a fire burning in the base camp and you can use this for cooking on, also we will have hot water on the boil for use at any time for hot drinks.  You are advised to bring sufficient soft drinks, preferably cordial not cans, snacks, etc. for your needs as there will be no opportunity to go to the shops.

Equipment and Clothing.

You are advised to contact us before purchasing any expensive equipment and clothing. all participant's will be given a comprehensive equipment, and clothing, list before attending, and you will probably have most things on the list.

 Car parking

Our courses are run from different locations, and sometimes on private estates with limited or no access to the general public, at these locations we cannot always guarantee parking close to the camp. If the camp is remote from the car park we will always try to drive your equipment to the camp, but you must be prepared to carry it if this is not possible, you will be informed of any problems before the course.

 Knives and cutting tools

We are always asked can we bring a knife. Please do not bring your own knives unless prier consent has been given. You will be loaned appropriate equipment when necessary, knives's, saw's, axe;s, etc.

How difficult or demanding are the courses

 

 

Alcohol

The courses are not demanding but need a moderate amount of physical ability. Each aspect of the course is designed to encourage you to get the most out of the experience, and for you to improve at your own pace in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. We can tailor our tuition to suit your individual needs and experience.

 

Alcohol is strictly forbidden during all courses for safety reasons.

Every answer starts with a question. Ask the question.

One of our sites has toilets, but the green field and woodland camps do not have flushing toilets or running water, although we try to make these facilities as comfortable as possible you are advised they will be basic. you will be informed before the course.

 

All Courses have a designated health and safety perimeter, there will be no opportunity to go to the shops. Only under exceptional circumstances will participant's be aloud off site or for H&S reason's.

 

Some weeks are going to be better or worse than others when it comes to weather, with this in mined we will only cancel a course in the most severe of weather conditions. It is your responsibility to ensure you are kitted out for this eventuality. Participant's will be given a comprehensive equipment, and clothing, list before attending.


We do not teach trapping, stalking, or how to kill wild animals.

 

Generally the courses take part in three locations in Lancashire, one in a small private wooded area, and another in secluded wooded area at an outdoor camp-site. The later is ideal for one day courses having toilet facility's. We  also have the use of a site in the Lake District.
